To understand this example, you should have knowledge of the following topics:
· Java programming operators.
Java Number pattern program using For loop:
class numberPattern1
{
public static void main(String[] args)
{
int i, j;
for(i = 5; i >= 1; i--)
{
for(j = 1; j <= i ;j++)
{
System.out.print(j);
}
System.out.println();
}
}
}
{
public static void main(String[] args)
{
int i, j;
for(i = 5; i >= 1; i--)
{
for(j = 1; j <= i ;j++)
{
System.out.print(j);
}
System.out.println();
}
}
}
Output:
12345
1234
123
12
1
Explanation:
- The first two integers "i" and "j" are declared of type int.
- Then in the First for loop “i” value is initialized with value 5.
- Now “i” value is checked with the condition i >= 1 that is (5 >=1). So the condition is True.
- Now the loop enters into the second for loop and checks the condition j <= i.
- So the value of j=1 is less than “i” where (i =5) the condition is true. So it's print the value of “J”. And the value of “j” increments after printing value. It prints the value of J up to “j = 5” when becomes 6 it comes out the loop and increment value i = 2 and the same process repeats.
- Last where the “i” value becomes “0” the first loop condition becomes false and the program terminates.
